The Veteran's Quilts of Honor Ceremony took place Saturday, October 24th, 2015, to honor Livingston Parish veterans at the Watson Library. Rep. Valarie Hodges awarded 17 veterans with a certificate of bravery and courage.
Seventen veterans were each presented with a hand-made quilt in honor of their service. The Ceremony was conducted by the Watson Library Quilters Guild. Friends and family of the veterans were present to celebrate their awards.
"I am proud to serve in the state of Louisiana where so many men and women have dedicated their lives to protecting the innocent," Rep. Valarie Hodges said. "I appreciate these women honoring the families that have sacrificied so much for the state nation by providing veterans with these wonderful quilts. It was humbling to be standing in the room with so many selfless individuals, four of which served during World War II."
The Guild also honored Rep. Hodges with a hand-made quilt for her active participation in the ceremony over the last three years.
