Each year since 2012, I have introduced a resolution to celebrate Israel.
“I believe it is important to honor Israel,” said Hodges. “The resolutions passed by the Louisiana legislature serve as a reminder that we support Israel’s sovereignty in today’s world.”
In a New Orleans’ newspaper article, dated December 2014:
State Representative Valarie Hodges (R-Denham Springs) honored Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer by presenting him with ceremonial copies of her house resolutions supporting Israel at a briefing held at the Jewish Community Center of New Orleans last Thursday.
“These proclamations send a strong message of support for Israel to the entire world,” said Ambassador Dermer.
The exclusive briefing from Israel’s Ambassador to the United States was hosted by the Israel Bonds Southeast Region and attended by several elected officials, including Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and Treasurer John Kennedy, and A.G. Crowe (R-Slidell) along with members from the community. Hodges was instrumental in working with the Israeli Bonds to invite Ambassador Dermer to Louisiana.
The event was timely in light of Hanukkah this week, a traditional Jewish holiday that celebrates the restoration of Israel’s sovereignty.
Hodges authored resolutions HCR132 and HR21 to express support for the people of Israel and their right to live in freedom.
